About Janet
After college, I worked for a congressman on environmental issues, and then continued my work in the environmental field for 17 years. I happened upon yoga in 1990, and I was hooked. I have been teaching yoga for over 20 years. A bit later, I lucked out — my best friend from my congressional days learned CranioSacral Therapy, and she convinced me to give it a try. What an experience! This work has changed my life. I love bringing the healing of craniosacral therapy to people from all walks of life.
I love to teach, I love learning new things, and I love sharing what I know. Join me today and learn something new about your body and how it works. A rewarding inner experience awaits!

Experience
Yoga
Janet has studied yoga since 1990 and taught over 5000 hours of yoga since 1997. She received her teacher training from Judith Lasater in San Francisco, and Joy Laine in St. Paul. Most of her teachers have been Iyengar teachers — she teaches Iyengar-based yoga, and adds in anything else she feels is valuable. She has studied posture work since she was pregnant with her first child in 2001. She is a big fan of the posture work of both Esther Gokhale and Kathleen Porter, and has incorporated their work into her classes. These women both learned from the master in France. Don’t miss this very engaging article about her. It is very worth the read — you’ll travel with a 31 year-old-dancer with chronic back pain who goes to France for months to learn how to stand.
Janet is always looking for a new aspect of yoga to share so that we can all learn new things together.
CranioSacral Therapy
Janet is currently the director of the Twin Cities branch of the Heartwood Institute, and teaches Craniosacral l, ll & lV for them. She studied craniosacral therapy at the Heartwood Institute and was certified in CranioSacral Therapy in 2005. The amount of healing that is possible from craniosacral therapy has been astounding to her. Her teacher, Dr. Maureen Schwehr, is fabulous, and Janet continues to strive to learn all she can from her and all the people that she has met along the way. She sees craniosacral clients in her home office in Roseville.
Janet’s passion is to learn new things in order to deepen her understanding of craniosacral therapy and help her clients deepen their ability to heal.
She is currently developing new courses for the Heartwood Institute that will help her students expand their skills and knowledge. She created the CST lV - Fascial Sheaths course for the Heartwood Institute. It incorporates the fascial sheath concept developed by Thomas Myers in his book, Anatomy Trains.
In addition, Janet is passionate about developing new teachers in this field. She has met many talented bodyworkers that have taken the Heartwood classes, and can see how much insight they have to share. She is currently working with folks to help them develop the Cupping Techniques classes at the Institute, and new half-day courses on working with the Vagus Nerve, Low Back Pain & Sciatica, Organs and Emotions.
“Although learning technique is important, what is really important to me is helping students develop a new perspective and healing approach from which they can transform both themselves and their bodywork.“
